Löwenstein-Jensen Medium
with medicines for testing medicine susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Löwenstein-Jensen media with anti-Mycobacterium additives in different concentrations enable selection of appropriate medicines in tuberculosis therapy as well as identification of relevant doses. Medium is provided as a green-coloured slant. Obtained from egg yolk mass combined with aqueous salt solution and glycerol, as well as aqueous malachite green solution acting as bacteriostatic agent for other microorganisms, with different concentrations of anti-Mycobacterium medicines. Medium is produced in hermetic test tubes, which prevents drying and provides constant growth conditions during examination. Control tests include sterility, examination of declared Löwenstein-Jensen medium concentration using H37RV strain with anti-Mycobacterium medicines, conducted by the Tuberculosis Institute in Warsaw.
